ENVIRONMENT, WASTE AND CLIMATE ACTION

To continue to create a clean, vibrant, green and climate ready City.

• Introduced a ban on Single-Use Plastics in Council offices, cafes in parks and public events

• Delivered the new Climate Action Plan for Dublin City

• Introduced measures to address the on-going problem of litter and dog waste in the City

• Pushed trials of public recycling bins and drinking water fountains

• Monitored the activity of the Poolbeg Waste to Energy facility through the Environment SPC

ARTS & CULTURE

To ensure we support and protect our creativity and restore our night time culture.

• Set up sub-committees for Artist Studios and Street Art

• Agreed culture, community and creative space for the Poolbeg West SDZ and the Pigeon House Precinct, including 40 artists studios

• Secured funding for a cultural programme for Dublin City Velo Conference

• Advocated for a Night Czar for the City

• Strengthened the cultural provision in the City Development Plan

 
cycling

CYCLING & WALKING

To create a safe, calm, cycling, and child - friendly City.

• Reintroduced a Cycling & Walking Officer for Dublin City

• Progressed the delivery of the Sutton 2 Sandycove from Sean Moore Road to Merrion Gates, Dodder Greenway and Liffey cycle routes

• Secured funding for secure bike parking lockers for residents in SEIC and 2,000 bike racks for the City

• Delivered pedestrian crossings at the junction of Kevin Street / Bride Street, Leonards Corner and Harolds Cross.

• Proposed the pedestrianisation of Suffolk Street, South William Street and Drury Street

PUBLIC REALM IMPROVEMENTS

To provide more healthy spaces to rest, relax and reflect.

• Brought back the Dublin City Beta Project

• Re-zoned and funded a ‘pocket park’ on Georges Street

• Proposed a redesign of Portobello Harbour Plaza and The Cabbage Patch

• Secured funding for public toilets for the south east City

HOUSING

To tackle homelessness, build homes and create vibrant communities.

• Secured agreement for 900 social and affordable homes and increased the number of 3-beds in the new Poolbeg West SDZ

• Proposed motions to introduce rent controls, and to restrict the building of hotels and short term rentals to prioritise building homes

• Working with my colleague in the Dáil, Eamon Ryan TD, on cost rental models for public and vacant lands in the City

CAMPAIGNING

For a democratic, equal, inclusive City.

• Actively campaigned for a Yes Vote in both the Marriage Equality and Repeal the 8th referendums

• Fought to make politics more family-friendly by allowing breast feeding at meetings

• Campaigned for a directly-elected Mayor and a Night Mayor for Dublin City
